Global Health at Monod Bio
Engineering the future of clinical diagnostics and life sciences tools to solve the world’s most pressing health challenges.
Spotlight on our global health initiatives
Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases, yet diagnosis often relies on sputum cultures, which can take days and are difficult for many patients to produce, or expensive molecular PCR machines.
Our Approach
To overcome these barriers, Monod Bio is developing an ultra-sensitive TB-LAM diagnostic. While lipoarabinomannan (LAM) is a critical biomarker for active TB, it is highly fragmented in urine, making it notoriously difficult to detect. We solve this using AI-designed, multispecific and multivalent NovoBody binders. These engineered binders capture diverse LAM fragments with exceptional avidity, delivering lab-level diagnostic precision in a rapid, completely non-invasive point-of-care test.
Preeclampsia
Preeclampsia claims the lives of tens of thousands of women annually, with the burden falling disproportionately on LMICs where laboratory infrastructure is limited. Current risk-stratification requires detecting elevated blood pressure and protein in the urine, processes that are often delayed in resource-challenged settings.
Our Approach
Monod Bio is developing a rapid, point-of-care diagnostic test for risk-stratification in preeclampsia. Utilizing our hyper-stable biosensors, this test is designed to deliver quantitative, actionable results without the use of central lab equipment, allowing providers to identify high-risk patients before severe symptoms or complications arise.
